Yes, that’s the Frank McCourt of Angela’s Ashes fame, playin harmonica and jammin with the guys from the Rockbottom Remainders!
It was only minutes before when colleagues and I were mingling the literati at the New Yorker party, at Chinatown Brasserie. From the sublime to the…well…passionate? Stephen King, Amy Tan, Mitch Albom, Dave Barry, Dave’s brother, and others born a long time before me so I didn’t recognize their names, owned the stage at WEBSTER HALL and played to a sell-out, tickets-only crowd of BIG BOOK NERDS.
Amy Tan rocked it with “It’s My Party”, while Frank McCourt represented on harmonica. While cheers of “Free Bird” rang out from the crowd, there was, surprisingly, no refer-like odor wafting through the hall. Bummer. Astounding. Is ROCK dead or what?
